In 2024, a total of 14 mini projects focused on implementing artificial intelligence in education, research, and operational processes were supported at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. These projects cover a wide range of areas, from an automatic chat platform, through the integration of an AI-controlled avatar into a virtual classroom, to the use of AI tools for semantic analysis of early Christian texts.
Here you can find an overview of the supported mini-projects.
Do you want to start using AI tools, but don’t know where to find inspiration? Or have you come up with a great use of AI and want to share it with your colleagues? Do you want to discuss AI (and not only that) in education?
We invite you to a meeting of all those interested in regularly sharing experiences with tools using artificial intelligence. The meeting is suitable for all academics, without distinction. We will all shape the content together, and inspire each other. You will also learn about the latest news from the university working group for AI.
We meet approximately twice a semester.

AI Tea Talks are regular meetings of researchers working in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence, as well as others who are interested in these issues. These meetings are held every two weeks.
The meeting always consists of a networking part, where tea, coffee, and other snacks are served, and a seminar part, where participants listen to and discuss an idea, an interesting research article, or a research question related to the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence. All discussions are in English.
The main organization of AI Tea Talks at the University of West Bohemia is provided by staff from the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The meetings mostly take place on Fridays “after lunch” (starting at 13:00 to 13:30), and consist of about an hour-long lecture and subsequent discussion, with a cup of good tea.
The involvement of the University of West Bohemia in the Czech Association for Artificial Intelligence (ČAUI) strengthens its role in the field of education and research in artificial intelligence. The Czech Association for Artificial Intelligence brings together experts, researchers, and those interested in artificial intelligence, from across the Czech Republic, and supports their co-operation on current projects and initiatives. Thanks to this membership, the University of West Bohemia has access to the latest trends and findings in the field of AI, the opportunity to participate in professional discussions, and to contribute to the development of this dynamic field. The active participation of the UWB in the ČAUI is also an opportunity for students and university employees to join the wider community, and gain valuable experience.

Filip Kouba, a ZČU student, created the escape game Destinisco, which, thanks to Artificial Intelligence, you can play again and again, because it changes slightly every time you play it. You can visit this unique escape game from 1st August.
